Dutch Surgical Colorectal Audit
In The Netherlands yearly approximately 10.000 colorectal resections are being performed with a probable mortality of 7%. On the scale of cancer related causes of death in The Netherlands, colon carcinoma is rated second. Not only the media and the Inspection of Public Health, but also other ‘stakeholders' show an increasing interest in the quality of care. In April 2006 therefore, the Dutch Society for Surgical Oncology, together with the Dutch Society for GastroIntestinal Surgery and the Dutch Colorectal Cancer Group founded the Dutch Surgical Colorectal Audit (DSCA) Foundation. The objective of this foundation is the implementation of an objective ‘result-of-care' registration for the treatment of colorectal malignancies by analogy with the National Bowel Cancer Audit Project in the United Kingdom. At several symposia we have presented this initiative in order to inform you. Henceforth now the website www.dsca.nl is accessible with all relevant information.
Op 18 & 19 april 2011 organiseert de DSCA het jaarlijkse congres in het NH Barbizon Hotel te Amsterdam, deze keer in combinatie met een programma over "Improving outcome in low rectal cancer".
